Foreclosure Bond City Council Introduces Cleveland Heights, OH
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — City Council on Monday introduced legislation that would require $15,000 foreclosure bonds on vacant houses and commercial properties.
It’s a concept that council has discussed off and on for years in the aftermath of the housing and mortgage crisis that hit the country a decade ago.
“And, as other cities have adopted foreclosure bond requirements, the case for them has become more compelling,” Councilwoman Mary Dunbar noted prior to first reading of the legislation on Monday (Sept. 17).
